Throw a Roaring 1920s Themed Party

Set the Scene

The 1920s was a time of sparkling glamour, so the first step to your perfect 1920s themed party is to get the look right. Start with the decorations: you can't go wrong with gold, silver and black. Hang up some beautiful black, white and gold balloons and create a photo booth backdrop with lots of metallic streamers. To really set the scene, use some vintage-style furniture like a velvet chaise longue, or a chesterfield sofa.

1920s Outfits

Once your decorations are set, it's time to think about dressing the part! Tell your guests to come dressed in their finest 1920s-style outfits: think flapper dresses and feather boas, tuxedos and spats or even a gangster suit. And don't forget the accessories! Flapper headbands, bow ties and pearls will really help to complete the look.

Music and Dancing

To get your guests dancing and keep the party going, you'll need some great 1920s music. Think jazz classics, ragtime and even the Charleston. If you're feeling brave, why not get everyone involved with some Charleston dance lessons?

Food and Drink

When it comes to food and drink, you can't go wrong with the classic 1920s staples of gin and tonic, and finger foods like sandwiches, cakes and sweet treats. For something a bit more special, you could try making some classic 1920s cocktails like a Sidecar or a Bee's Knees. And don't forget the cake: a classic black and white cake with a silver bow would look perfect.

Favors and Games

Finally, don't forget to send your guests home with something special. How about giving them some 1920s-style favors, like feather boas, bow ties or vintage sunglasses? Or why not get them involved in some fun games like charades, who am I and murder mystery?
